After 30 years of enjoying books from a variety of authors, I finally after leaving my job of 10 years, took a year off and began to write.
So far I have completed 2.5 books while I also study a masters at university.
My first series is called The Mantle Series, it is an urban fiction novel with all your favourites. Dragons and demons, Fae and immortals, vampires and Sidhe are just some of the characters that popup.
A little synopsis for Winters Bane is below. I posted my first few chapters to Wattpad to gain some readers and feedback. Even though Wattpad has millions of stories and the likelihood of standing out is small, giving readers a free read and bringing more youth to reading is an admirable goal.
I produced my own cover but I’m getting it professionally designed and released when I complete the editing of my ebook. I hope you enjoy the book, I will be releasing a chapter every week on Wattpad and working on several planned novels in different worlds.
My influencers are many, I have enjoyed ancient history and myths and legends which lies at the core of my influences. However, I have also read many great authors over the years who did the hard yards and tilled and fertilized the ground for the rest of us. Authors like Robert Jordan, Raymond E Feist. David Eddings, Tolkien, CS Lewis and many other notable authors deserve adoration and credit for creating masterpieces. Film makers like George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Gene Roddenberry and many others have created visual masterpieces and storytelling genius in the late 20th century.
I have too many influences to list here but I will say these guys laid the foundation for us to create magic. Building upon solid foundations is easy work, allowing us ready made audiences that love stories that take us away to other worlds.
I cannot hope to compete with the literacy geniuses that have come before. I can only reveal my own writing to the world, and even if just one person likes it I will still feel the accomplishment of weaving my own special magic. I highly encourage you to write, with so much content its easy to just consume, however I encourage you do drop everything and start typing.
